The self-hosted HLS / DASH channel gateway

The native engine decrypts and remuxes DASH sources in process, with no FFmpeg required. Channels connect upstream only when someone is watching and disconnect when idle. Playback, administration, and automation each use separate credentials. One binary runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Why Kiln

Native media engine

Decrypt and remux DASH sources in process with no FFmpeg required, with an automatic compatibility fallback when needed.

On-demand pulling

Upstreams connect only when someone is watching and are reclaimed when idle; important channels can stay warm.

One authenticated entry point

Login sessions, admin API tokens, path-based playback keys, and public endpoints have separate, clearly defined privileges.

Low-latency HLS

Native support for CMAF parts, delta playlists, and blocking reloads.

Admin console

Channels, EPG, outbound proxies, and access control managed in the browser, applied immediately.

Resource adaptation

Budgets follow the container's memory and CPU quota; a 128 MiB container runs fine.
